Meet Our Founder

I’m Rubbie Groves-Clay, a licensed Realtor since 1992 and the author of “Get A Hold Of Your Darn Finances.” My story isn’t your typical rags-to-riches tale.

It began in the halls of Sumner High School, where I was a 15-year-old girl, pregnant, and surrounded by people who thought I was destined to fail. But something inside me told me otherwise. Not only did I graduate, but ironically, I became Homecoming Queen. That wasn’t just a crown; it was my promise to my son and myself that we would write our own story.

At my lowest, a friend invited me to a financial course at our local church. It sounded boring, but I gave it a shot. And guess what? It was anything but boring. That little $15.00 course changed my life. It gave me a mentor, a plan, and most importantly, hope. I learned to budget, save, and spend wisely, and I paid off debts like a mad woman.

Then I got my real estate license, and I was making more money than I ever imagined. But beneath the polished exterior, I was still living paycheck to paycheck, running in circles, and feeling stuck. More money didn’t mean fewer problems.

Then came 2012. I was working on a new construction project where a staggering 90% of the visitors could not qualify for a modest $600 house payment. It lit a fire in me. I couldn’t ignore the glaring issue any longer. It was my AHA moment.

I channeled my passion into writing “Get A Hold Of Your Darn Finances.” As the words flowed, I discovered my true gift of storytelling. And if my journey has taught me anything, it’s that no matter where you are in life, it’s never too late to get smart about money.
